Where did the name come from?

Thew name originates from a scottish story about a man who saves his King in Battle. Dressed in complete armor, he lifts his king onto his horse with one hand, as the Kings horse had been killed, and saves the king. This is the most recogonised version of the name’s origins(in Scotland. The Gaelic name is ‘Mac Ghillielaidir‘. The Armstrong’s are from the land of Liddesdale. This is the Scottish version.
