Life when I’m home

Wow. What a few months I’ve had.
What ever happened to being a laid back country?  What happened to all my mates? I’m recently back from the war. It’s over. But, sometimes I wish that I hadn’t come back. The worry I have here is a lot worse. My mates aren’t with me. Not even with me on this bloody planet. War kills.. the politicians sacrifice our lives for their mistakes. Send us off to war, while they sit at their desks doing nothing. They think they’re patriotic, well off you go to war mate, give it your best shot. Or get shot.

I have nightmares every night of those days in the army. Waking up in the morning to see my best mate shot next to me in the trenches, can’t say it was the best feeling. I’m patriotic for this bloody country, but is there some place I should draw the line? Is there some place where I say that’s enough.

At first I didn’t want to go to the war, but everyone kept hassling me. I had to leave my one month old son and missed all his firsts because of a stupid war.

Well I’ve got to get back to the missus, help her out with my son.
